NOTD | Featuring H&M's Copper

Hello! How are you all doing?
I'm back now and hopefully it's for good!

Back in May I mentioned on my wishlist that I really wanted to get one of H&M's glittery nail polish in Copper. See, I'm a sucker for glitter. About two years ago I got a nail varnish from H&M that I LOVE - it's very similar to this one, except that it only contains silver spots. Obviously when I saw this one I couldn't resist! I am not one to do NOTDs simply because when I was younger I used to bite my nails and I don't really like them now, but I loved the product, so why not?

The bottle is quite big and if I'm honest I can tell you now it's going to last forever because it's not like we use glitter on our nails every day, do we? For me it's one of those things I use every once in a while, so I probably will not have to repurchase anything like it in a while. As you can see, the base is clear and you'd need to apply quite a few layers for it to be opaque, but I generally tend to use it as a top coat and it works just fine. I have had it on for about five days and it's now that it's starting to get chipped, but I can't complain considering that the nail varnish I used underneath is absolutely rubbish!

So... long lasting, cheap and sparkly - what else could you ask for?! I'm honestly surprised H&M doesn't get more recognition for their beauty products because I've pretty much loved every single thing I've purchased. They're being sold in stores (not sure if in all of them, though), but you can as well shop online at their website.

What about you? Have you tried any nail varnish or any other beauty product from H&M?
Let me know :)

Bloglovin!

Given the current situation with the Followers gadget on Blogger, I decided to join Bloglovin. Now you should know I'm a tech idiot, like Louise said on her post, so it might take me a while to figure out how to use it haha but anyway, I thought I'd let you know, just in case anything happens.

I think I'm following now on bloglovin basically everyone I follow here, but you can send me your link if you fancy (either on your comments or via twitter @taniawscott) :)

Everyday Makeup Routine

Hello everyone!

I am one exam away from absolute freedom. I tried to talk myself into not uploading anything until I was completely done with college, but when I came back from work today and saw it was still so sunny, I couldn't stop myself from taking some pics outside and I then it just happened really quickly - I just had to write!

Now that Summer is approaching (and that'll probably make me change my routine up a little bit), I thought it'd be a good idea to talk about my everyday makeup routine, which usually takes place between 7 and 8 am, when I can barely open my eyes, so you probably shouldn't be expecting a masterpiece.

>My base by Essence
After cleansing and moisturizing, Essence's My Base is the first thing that goes on my face. It claims to be an illuminatin make-up base and it gives kind of a subtle glow to your skin (which is very much appreciated in the mornings).

>Imperfection Corrector Kit by Oriflame
My mom got this for me forever ago and it does the job perfectly. As you can see the green corrector is running out because due to my skin condition I suffer from a lot of annoying redness, mostly in my forehead, and I've been using the peachy colour to correct under eye circles.

>Fit Me! foundation by Maybelline
I already mentioned it in my Spring Favourites post (here: x), but that's one of the things that haven't changed... yet. It gives light coverage, which I like, but the warm weather is making me feel quite cake'd up, so I'm on the hunt for another one.

>Bronzer/makeup beads by Revlon's Natural Wonder Cosmetics
Natural Wonder was a subsidiary brand owned by Revlon (thanks Wikipedia) that no longer exists, so you can imagine for how long I've had these makeup beads. My mom used to have similar ones when I was a kid and she bought these ones for me and I just love them. I use them as a bronzer with that big fat brush you see on the picture and they work just fine to contour with a smaller brush (call me lazy).

>Compact Powder Blush in "103 Tierra" by Pinaud
I don't remember buying this actually, I think it was a free sample for some magazine, but it looks so natural on the skin that I'm just obsessed with it - and it matches my Kate Moss Rimmel London 104 lipstick!

>Cream Blush in "Bittersweet" by MUA
Alternative blush for when I'm feeling the warm weather! It's the first cream blush I tried and honestly I love it. You'd think that bubblegum pink colour would make you look like a clown - Nope! It's great. (I tried applying it with a brush, hence the dark spots on the pic... Didn't really work. Fingertips work better.)

>The Falsies Volum' Express mascara by Maybelline
I'm sure you've read a thousand reviews on it by now, so I'm not gonna ramble on! It's an amazing mascara, just one coat -or two if you fancy extra volume- and I'm ready to go.

>Waterproof Gel Eyeliner in "Midnight in Paris" by Essence
Alright, given that this is my morning makeup routine, I only attempt to do a cat eye when I know I've got enough time to get ready (which barely happens), but this is my absolute favourite eyeliner.

>Au Naturel palette by Sleek
Again, it's something I only do when I know I've got enough time, but I do love some neutral colors on my eyes, so I tend to reach for two of the colours on this palette: Capuccino (light) all over the lid and Bark (dark) on the crease.

The only relatively new product here is the peachy High Shine Lip Gloss from Colour Couture, which I got not too long ago for 80 cents! Talk about bargains! My lips are quite dry and some lipsticks only seem to emphasize the flaws on them, so I've been using this lipgloss on top of my MUA Nectar lipstick. The other one is my absolute favourite lip product, Shade 104 from the Kate Moss collection for Rimmel London.

So that's it for my routine! Looking back at what I just wrote it feels like I use quite a lot of products on my face, but the truth is it takes me about 10 minutes to get ready in the morning and my only essentials are the things on the Face section and my mascara, all the other things are only optional.

Anyway, hope you enjoyed this (long!) post. What are your beauty essentials on your everyday routine? Anything you'd recommend? :)

June Wishlist - Beauty Edition

Hi y'all. :)
On Friday night I stayed up until over 3 am writing my silly little tips post as I felt like I was being a terrible blogger and I was really missing posting stuff. Once I started writing and jumping into the blogging wagon again I didn't want to stop, so I decided to also do my June Wishlist.

Going back to my previous wishlist (check it out here) I see I have actually purchased nearly three products of the five things I included. And I say nearly three because two of them are not exactly the things I initially wanted to get, however they're very similar products. I now own the glittery nail varnish I talked about from H&M (in both Copper and Blue), a bubblegum coloured blush, which is not the one from NARS but a cream blush from MUA and I'm obsessed with it, and I didn't get any nude/peachy lipstick from Sephora but I did get similar shades from MUA that were a lot cheaper (reviewed here).

Now let's get started with this month's wishlist, which somehow turned out to be a beauty products wishlist!

Ever since I got the Fit Me! foundation by Maybelline I've been very happy with it, using it on a daily basis since its light coverage doesn't make me feel all cake'd up. However, over the past few weeks I've noticed that it does feel heavy on my skin if it's too hot and also that it seems to fade away with the heat and at the end of the day I look as if I had nothing on. I asked on twitter for a good foundation for the summer and Andrea from RossyChicc recommended me this one, which seems perfect. It's a bit pricey, so in case I can't afford it once I'm going to buy it, I'll try the Healthy Mix foundation by Bourjois as my plan B!

I'd seen people raving about it on twitter and I kept seeing it on Sephora so I was very curious about it, but couldn't find any really useful review. That is, of course, until the lovely Sinead from The Makeup Chair did a video on all the different uses (check it out here). I am now craaaazyyyy to try Fakeup, especially on under eye circles.

As I've said before, I don't think I can pull off baby pink colours on my lips, I just don't think they suit me at all. However, Ingrid from Miss Glamorazzi was wearing it on her May Favorites video and I just fell in love with it! She used MAC's Cremesheen Glass in Richer, Lusher over the top and I think it looked amazing.

I think I have now watched/read over a thousand reviews on these lips butters and I can't wait to get one myself! The bad thing, though, is that I don't think they're being sold in Spain - and if they are, I haven't seen them yet. *sigh*

As someone who's crazy about nails stuff - how can you resist these nail polishes from MUA being so freaking cheap!? I just want to buy the whole range of colours. A lot of people have been comparing them to the Essie ones, which I haven't even tried (I know, I know... shame on me), but all reviews seem to say the same thing: a great nail polish for an unbelievably low price.

I will start by saying I'm not a liquid eye liner kind of person. I do love my cat eye, but I find gel eye liner a lot easier to use and it doesn't get nearly as messy. However lately I've been feeling the urge to get a new liquid liner, since the last time I tried one was a really long time ago and I'd like to have more options when it comes to my eyes.

And that's it for my wishes! Hopefully I will be able to purchase some of these products during June so keep checking back for new posts on them after I finish my exams, which should be sometime next week. :)

It's Finals Season... Little Tips

Hello everybody!
Lately I haven't had the time to keep track of most beauty blogs, let alone write beauty posts myself, which upsets me way more than I can say. I thought about writing a May Favourites post this week, but I haven't tried anything new over the past three weeks or so, I haven't even been putting much effort into my makeup to be perfectly honest, just sticking to a very simple routine, so I didn't have much to talk about. What could I possibly write a post on, then? What has been keeping me so busy?

That's right, peeps... Finals are here.

(Me when I saw my exam calendar ;))

If you're a college student like me, you will know this is certainly the most stressful time of the year. Papers to hand in, tests to study for, oral presentations to work on... You know the drill. But don't you worry your pretty little mind, I'm here to share with you tips that you have probably heard about but that are indeed very useful to stay as calm as it's humanly possible during exams season.

First of all, the most important thing for me: make a playlist. Maybe it's just me, but studying hearing nothing but silence doesn't help me focus at all, it just makes me turn my head around every time I hear a random noise. It's essential for me to have music in the background. I would recommend you don't include too many songs that make you want to dance and sing because you would actually spend your study time dancing and singing around your room which is, ummm, not exactly what you should be doing!

Of course it's all up to you and your music taste, but here you have some of my song choices for my playlist this year:

Bloom - The Paper Kites
Classy Girls - The Lumineers
Jenny - Tyler Hilton
Everybody Talks - Neon Trees
Carried Away - Passion Pit
Let Her Go - Passenger
The OC Mix 1 (full)

This may sound silly and I'm sure you're going to think you're totally not doing it, but try to have your own deadlines. Say that you have to hand in a paper on June 10th, well, then try to have it done before June 5th as if you had to hand it in that day, that way you'll be a lot less stressed out and you'll also have more time to study and/or do other things. Having study calendars helps A LOT if you stick to them.

One of the things I love the most, whether it's finals season or not, is pampering time! When you're feeling the weight on your shoulders after or during a rough week, what's better than having some time for yourself? When it comes to products, I've been using and loving the Mango Sugar Scrub from The Body Shop, as mentioned in a previous post; the Vanilla Duo Body Butter, which is highly moisturizing and smells SO GOOD, and Nivea's Refreshing Moisture Mask, which claims to be for normal skin but I can tell you it works amazingly on very dry skin. Use them as often as you like (check the packaging of the products and/or website for information and recommendations), put on your most comfortable pjs and you're ready to go on.

Last but not least, always make time for distractions. I don't think you should ever study all your notes in one go because you're most likely to get overwhelmed by everything and consequently forget most of what you've tried to memorize. Study as much as you want, but eventually your body will ask you to slow down for a bit. Do as you're told. Take some time to drink coffee, have a chat with your friends or just watch a tv show you like (I'd recommend you choose something like House, Ghost Whisperer, Supernatural, Smallville... you know, shows where continuity is not as important and you can watch only one episode without 1) getting lost in the storyline 2) feeling the urge to watch any more episodes).

And those are basically all the tips I can share with you! I should probably add that you should get enough sleep to go through the day without feeling like you're a zombie, but I'm actually the last person on the planet who should be talking about that, so we'll just leave it there.

What about you? What helps you get through these rough weeks? Do you have any tips you'd like to share?

Thank you for reading and good luck if you've got your finals coming up soon :)
