#BEDM 25: Music Love & 1D in Barcelona

Hello hello!
Clearly I'm not keeping up with the challenge and I'm sorry about that, but as I said, college and other things are keeping me so busy I barely have time to breathe. Anyway, seeing as it's Saturday and I've got some time off that I should use to study for my finals, I thought I could join in today. After all, today's topic is music - how could I miss that!?

It's hard for me to pick a music genre I love the most as I listen to almost all kinds of music. I've got my all time favourite artists, who have been the same ever since I started listening to decent music, but I'm always up for a new discovery. Sometimes I just feel like listening to the songs that are on the radio at the moment (pop hits, basically) whereas other times I get tired of every song I've ever listened to and I need to find new stuff. Lately I've been loving The Lumineers, Passenger and Macklemore (what a mix, eh?), but my top albums are still the same.

Radio:ACTIVE - McFLY (2008)
As I've probably mentioned before, McFly is my favourite band and somehow I feel so mean choosing just one of their albums! Radio:ACTIVE, though... This album is freaking great. It's got a rockish vibe to it and the lyrics are so amazing that after all this time they still blow my mind.

Sweeter - Gavin DeGraw (2011)
Ever since I started watching the tv show One Tree Hill (which, if you follow me on twitter, you will probably have seen me quoting), I fell in love with the guy who sings the intro, Gavin DeGraw. It surprises me how underrated this album is, because for me it's brilliant. It surprises me how underrated HE is. He's got such an unique voice and he is just genius.

In Case You Didn't Know - Olly Murs (2011)
Olly Murs was one of these artists I found accidentally and I instantly fell in love with him. Again, you win me over with an unique voice, being different from anything I've heard before. This album makes me smile like a fool. It sounds... like happiness.

Sunshine State Of Mind - We The Kings (2011)
The title says it all, doesn't it? I love this album for the same reason I love In Case You Didn't Know: it makes me happy. It makes me feel better. Again, We The Kings is an amazing band and they're so underrated. I can tell you know they're amazing live and I've had the opportunity to meet the lead singer, Travis Clark, and he is easily one of my favorite people in the world. There's light in him just like there's light in this album. *how cheesy am I*

Fearless - Taylor Swift (2008)
One day, four years ago, my fifteen year old self was in class waiting for the professor to arrive when she absemindedly started singing Love Story, which had just come out. Suddenly she heard somebody singing along and when she turned around, she couldn't help herself from fangirling, "Oh my god! You like Taylor Swift?!" "Yeah! I mean, I LOVE Love Story!" "Me too!!!" I'd seen that girl around, but I don't think I'd ever talked to her. That girl is now one of my best friends, and Fearless takes me back to that time when we first met. :)

___

And that's my Top 5! I'm thinking about starting a series called Music Finds or Music Crushes of the Month or something like that. It'll have to wait until I'm done with finals though, because I'm starting next week and I'm already going crazy.

By the way, I thought this would be a good topic to say I went to see One Direction on Wednesday in Barcelona and it was so much fun! They put up a really good show to be honest and I thought I'd die among 12 year old girls screaming their names, but nope! I survived and I enjoyed it an awful lot. Actually, not only did I go to the show, but me and my friends decided to stalk them a bit because hey, how many times can you see a band that's so famous worldwide in your city?

We didn't see much outside the venue though, but here's my week in pictures. (We did see Niall Horan and Harry Styles peeing. No pictures of that, I'm afraid. Sorry.)

I'll start posting regularly as soon as I can. Have a lovely weekend!

Review: MUA Lipsticks

A couple of weeks ago, my friend Laura from Vanilla Kingdom texted us all excited telling us about an Spanish makeup website called Maquillalia. It turns out they sell stuff from a lot of different brands (Essence, NYX, China Glaze...) and obviously we just had to pick up some stuff.

Seeing as the MUA lipsticks were only about 1'50€ each, I picked up three of them. Yes, three. I figured that if I wanted to try any new lipstick colour, it would be better to go for a cheap one, that way I wouldn't feel bad about wasting my money on something I was probably never going to use again.

These are my picks! Shade 16 Nectar, Shade 6 and Shade 14 Bare.

I am obsessed with the first one, Nectar. For some reason it does look quite orange on the pictures but once you put it on it's a lot more of a pinkish peach than a bright orange and it has quickly become one of my favourite lipsticks to wear on a daily basis. The Bare one is great too, maybe a bit too pink for me (I just don't think I can pull off baby pink lipsticks), but I quite like it. I'm not so crazy about the pink one, though, but only because I dislike the fact that it's quite shimmery. Not sure if that was mentioned on the website -I didn't see it! However, I do like the colour, so I'll try to wear that one with a lip gloss on top and we'll see if that helps a little or just ruins it completely.

The only problem I've had with these MUA lipsticks is that my lips are quite dry in general and they only seem to dry them out a bit more, so I would recommend using a good lip base/balm underneath or whatever suits you best and you're good to go. They don't last forever and you might have to touch it up every couple of hours or so, but hey, what more can one ask for?! :)

What's your favourite MUA product? Do you own any MUA lipsticks? Do they do the job for you?

#BEDM 2

Hello lovelies! It's Day 2 of the Blog Every Day in May project and to be perfectly honest I wasn't planning on bloggin today since it's almost 11 pm I've just come home and I'm extremely tired, but hey, a challenge is a challenge. So here it goes! :)

Day 2: What is your favourite thing about Spring? What plans do you have to enjoy it?

"Captain! The ice is melting, the sun is out and the flowers are all in bloom..."
"He's here." (Peter Pan, 2003)

As a girl who lives in Barcelona, I'm not used to real cold weather, so as soon as warmer days start to show, I am the happiest flower. I could ramble on about all the things I like about Spring, like longer days and bright colours, but actually my favorite thing about Spring is the smile people start putting on their faces as soon as the sun comes out. It might be just me, but I think most of us just look/feel miserable on grey, rainy days and it's lovely to feel radiant in the sunlight.

Plus, I find myself in the perfect mood to listen to We The Kings' album Sunshine State On Mind (there's such a happy vibe to it!) and it's also the perfect time of the year to take pics like this one at 8 pm...

My friends Cristina and Nerea (left and right) and me (middle) on one of the first Spring days we had this year

So that's it for the challenge today. SO excited for tomorrow's post, Day in The Life. It sounds as if I was a star and had something interesting to share with the world about my every day life, haha!

#BEDM

This morning I came across a blogger doing the Blog Every Day in May challenge (set by Elizabeth) and I got curious. I read it all, took a look at the calendar and got all excited about it and then I thought, "Tania, do you think you will have the time to blog every single day this month?"

The answer is no, I probably won't. With work, a few papers to write and my exams coming up at the end of the month, I'm going to be pretty busy, so I said on twitter that I wasn't going to do it. Then Christina from Kimi and Me tweeted me saying that I could just join in on a couple of the days of the challenge. Why not? I think #BEDM is a great idea and it could be so much fun. It does feel like I'm cheating, but I will try to blog as many days as I can and I look forward to reading all your posts. :)

Here we go!

Day 1: Introduce yourself or sum yourself up in just 5 lines. Include a photograph that you are proud of.

(Amazing pic taken by my talented friend Anne last year)

I've only been here for two weeks but I already love being a blogger and I get all excited just thinking about potential posts. I've got two nicknames: Miss Daisy and Mufasa (you know, messy curly hair). I'm crazy about glitter nail varnish. Crrraaazzzyyy. I'm quite an independent girl and I tend to get overwhelmed and need my own space sometimes. Funnily enough, concerts are my favourite part of life

And that's it for today! Going to check a lot more of your #BEDM posts as soon as I get back from work today. See you tomorrow!
